Daddy's Little Girl

In celebration of Father's Day, Adam wanted to have brunch at Cane Rosso.  We have heard how fab Cane Rosso is for months but given it's reputation for a lengthy wait and it's location in Deep Ellum we hadn't gone.  Cane Rosso (red dog) is named after the owner's red vizsla, Zoli.  What's up with us picking restaurants that people name after their dogs?  Although if my dad were to ever open a BBQ joint it would probably be named Charlie's in honor of his beloved shar pei, so who am I to judge?

Adam of course didn't pick this as his father's day brunch spot due to the name, he picked it because it was featured on America's Best Bites.  Who knew that one of the best pizza places in the U.S. was in good ole Dallas, Texas?  In my opinion, it was better than any pizza I've ever had in New York or Chicago...yes, I said it.  BETTER than Chicago...sorry Adam!

I was a little worried what Maison could eat given her dairy allergy until I noticed they had Nutella pizza.  I've never seen a pizza place in Chicago serve Nutella pizza.  I'm just saying...Maison is certainly Daddy's little girl....she loved it!

YUM!  Nutella

Helping Daddy open his presents

And of course, you have to dance it out when you have a tummy full of sugar...

Happy Father's Day Adam!

Donuts for Dad

Adam had his first school party experience today at Donuts for Dad.  Maison was so excited that she got to wear a 'party dress' to school today and that Daddy was going to school with her.

Once they got to school, I don't know if Maison was more excited about Daddy, actually getting to eat a donut, or the gift she had made for him.

Happy early Father's Day!

Would never know...

You would never know Maison just had surgery this morning...

She seems completely fine. She's playing and running around when she's supposed to be "taking it easy." She has absolutely NO interest in laying in bed and watching her new TV. Who's been laying in bed watching TV? That would be Adam...

I think he is on to something with this 'Maison gift thing'. Maybe the next time she's sick she'll need a Louis Vuitton or a Chanel bag or something along those lines.

Maison was feeling just fine when Adam lit the menorah. She of course was well enough to make sure Daddy was doing it right. I wonder where she gets this supervisor trait from???

Worth the Surgery

When we got home from the hospital I realized we hadn't gotten Maison a post-surgery gift. With all the chaos of Christmas and Hanukkah shopping I didn't even think about it. I asked Adam to go to Tom Thumb to get her a Snoopy dressed up like Santa we had seen the last time we were there. It was about 3 feet tall and we had only seen it at a distance so I wasn't sure if it was a stuffed animal or a decoration. I did say if it wasn't soft like a stuffed animal to get her something else.

Some how Adam's trip to Tom Thumb turned into a trip to Costco for a 46" flat screen TV and to Apple for an Apple TV so Maison could lay in Mommy and Daddy's bed and watch her movies. And I'm the reason Maison is spoiled?

Maybe I need to send Adam to the store more often...Or better yet maybe I need to have a surgery of sorts to see what he comes home with for me. Do cosmetic surgeries count???

Major Run of Bad Luck!

To continue the apparent bad luck train we are on....

Adam was in a 4 car pile up on the Tollway on his way home from work. And it was his fault. And the person that rear-ended him drove off. So both sides of the truck are damaged plus the two other cars in front of him. I feel our insurance costs rising as I type this...

Our current best car is the Toyota Corolla rental I'm driving due to the Expedition accident on Sunday (see Exploder Indeed!). And how was your day?

Adam Tris Keller

Adam headed out at 4:30 am this morning to drive to Keller to participate in his first triathlon. Given that he doesn't like to swim and HATES to run, I was somewhat shocked he even wanted to try one, but he did great. He finished 12 minutes faster than his goal of 1:45 with a solid 1:33. I was so proud of him as Maison and I cheered him on as he finished the run that I started crying.

Running for the finish line:

The newest triathlete in the family:

Just for the record, I finished last year at 1:27...hhheeemmm....I'm just saying, if we both do the Caveman...IT IS ON!!! CONGRATS ADAM ON BEING A TRIATHLETE!!!

Laissez les bons temps rouler....indeed!

Laissez les bons temps rouler! What else could I possibly say when Adam's birthday and Mardi Gras fall on the same day for the first time EV-A? And what do you do when it's not only a holiday but a birthday? You throw a party. But not just any party. You throw a Mardi Gras themed birthday costume party. Why not, there's nothing else to do on a Tuesday night but play indoor soccer.

The fam in full mardi gras costumes:

The king cake:
Our king cake had TWO babies. My dad and I each got one so I guess we will have to have 2 mardi gras parties or 1 party with 2 king cakes next year!

I seriously couldn't make this up...

Last night I went to Target and when I got home I unloaded some of the purchases, closed the back gate on the car, closed the garage door, and went in the house. I asked Adam to go get the rest of the things out of the car. I asked him to leave my keys on the sideboard and he said he didn't use the keys, he just opened the back glass.

I didn't think much of any of this last night until I got ready to leave for my doctor appointment this afternoon. Of course I was running late (am I ever not???) and so I pushed the button to open the garage door and started to walk towards the car. As I put my hand on the door handle I heard the most awful metal noise you have ever heard and watched my car being lifted off the ground (my EXPEDITION!). I was completely perplexed until I realized that the back gate to my car was open and the lip of the garage door had caught on it and was lifting it up.

In a panic, I started to try to close both the garage and the back of the car (via remote key) at the same time. It only made the issue worse. Somehow pushing the buttons repeatedly opening/closing both at different times finally dislodge the car gate from the garage door. When it finally dislodged, the back of my car literally fell a foot or so and bounced on the wheels. I just stared in disbelief....

I manually closed the gate, got into the car, and left for my appointment. I didn't have time to see what damage was done and really just don't need another problem right now. I called Adam on my way and he swears he didn't open the back gate last night so we are at a complete loss as to how the gate was open, how the battery didn't die, and last but not least, how on earth did the car gate and the garage door get intertwined??? I seriously could not make this up if I tried!

Happy FIRST Father's Day, Adam!

Today we celebrated Adam's first father's day. Adam wanted to drive out to Euless to eat at North Main BBQ which has been featured on the Food Network's Best Thing I Ever Ate, BBQ. Between Maison's schedule and a late popover breakfast we didn't get there until 3:30 which was only 30 min before they closed. We really couldn't have planned it better since the crowd was gone and we didn't have to fight for one of their limited tables. The food was pretty freakin good as we expected. We found out they are only open Fri-Sun...if you can stay in business by only serving lunch and dinner 3 days per week you must be doing something right.

Adam with Maison as we were leaving North Main:

After lunch we took Maison to the duck pond and the playground at Country Place Park. She didn't seem too interested in the ducks and was a little leery of trying the slides and swing but it was a wonderful afternoon.

Happy 38th Adam!

On March 8th Adam turned 38.  My mom graciously agreed to watch Maison so that Adam and I could go out to dinner on his b-day.  We went to Mercury Grill which Adam had never been to and I hadn't been in a few years.  It was AWE-SOME!  I wish I had their lobster souffle right now.  We had a great time.

On March 10th we had Adam's family birthday party at Jorg's Austrian restaurant....yes, we are doing baby friendly restaurants for b-day's this year ;o)  Maison was great didn't make a peep the entire time we were there but Shari and I both wanted to cry because they didn't have any pretzel bread which in our opinion is the ONLY reason to eat there.

After dinner we opened presents and had cake at my parents.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADAM!!!

Destruction of clothing, Exhibit B

I have previously mentioned that Adam is extremely hard on clothing.  He doesn't just have normal wear and tear like most people.  He out and out destroys things.  See previous post "This deserves a Cadbury Egg".

The day after the NC game Adam said "I guess I can't wear these shorts home." and showed me this:

I asked him when that happened and he said "I don't know.  Maybe when we were walking out of the game."  So he could have been walking around all day with his 'wears' hanging out and he didn't even notice or care nor did anyone else tell him he had a rip in his shorts.  Maybe that is the one benefit of being in a massive crowd...everyone is too busy pushing and shoving to notice that you have half of your bootie hanging out of your shorts.
