65 and Mortified

Yesterday was my dad's 65th b-day. He celebrated it "old school" with Sinbad, En Vogue, and gambling at the Winstar casino in OK. Since he had big plans we held his family birthday party today at Artin's. My mom had called to make sure they were baby friendly and they assured her they were....which they were, everything was great...until I had to take Maison to the bathroom and discovered they did not have a changing table. Ok, so the counter...nope they had above counter sinks. So where does that leave? Yep, the floor...the nasty azz, germ ridden floor. I was M-OR-T-FIED!!! How was it that my dad was the one who was officially became a senior citizen, yet I was the one that was mortified?

Here we grow again - Part 4

Today was Maison's 9 month wellness exam and here is how she measured up:

Age Weight Height
Birth 7 lbs 9 oz 21"
2 weeks 8 lbs 11 oz 21 3/4"
2 months 11 lbs 14 oz 24"
4 months 15 lbs 2 oz 26"
6 months 17 lbs 7 oz 28 3/8"
9 months 21 lbs 0 oz 30 3/8"

Again she was above 95% for height and 85% for weight so we are definitely getting used to the idea that we are going to have a very tall daughter. After her appointment we took her to buy shoes and I just couldn't find any that would fit her in the infant section. Yeah, that's because my NINE MONTH OLD wears toddler size 4 or 5 depending on the shoe. It's only another month or two until she'll be in my shoes, borrowing my clothes, and driving my car. God help us!

Happy 9 months, Maison!

Today our little girl turned 9 months old. She is saying, "mama", "bye-bye", and "up" but not necessarily when they are warranted. She escaped her crib last Saturday. We have no idea how...we just found her in the floor playing with her monitor when we went to go get her in the morning. She didn't even cry. Just was happily playing by herself waiting for someone to come get her. The doctor said she is fine so we are going with that it was a fluke that she figured out she can get out of her crib if she wants. Here's hoping that it doesn't happen again until she's at least one! Happy b-day, baby girl!

Bandana-less

Tonight Shari, Adrienne, and I went to see Bret Michaels at the AAC. After dinner at the Victory Tavern, we unfortunately still made it in time to see the end of Fuel and the beginning of Cowboy Mouth...neither of which were our top choices in music. While waiting for Bret we did get to do some people watching and we quickly concluded that we were definitely the only women without short cutoffs or denim skirts paired with boots and some of the few people without bandannas wrapped over our hair "Bret" style. Did they hand out bandannas to the first 2000 people or what? How did we miss the memo that costuming was expected and we did NOT participate? I'm so disappointed! I'm always up for a good costuming opportunity...stomp, stomp, pout, pout.

Despite the lack of bandanna, we were all pleasantly surprised how good Bret's set was. He played all the faves and no one would have guessed he recently escaped death 3 times. It was great!

Hot...Handled!

Today Jan, Kelly, and I did the Too Hot to Handle 15k (~9.3 miles) race in Dallas. It was in the high 80s when we left around 5:45 am and was a balmy 98 degrees when we finished. It was a VERY HOT, slow, sluggish race but we all finished around ~1:50 and no one needed a medic!

6:00 am - Parked and ready to go

9:45 am - We did it! 9.3 miles and 1 hr and 50 min later.

This afternoon Adam set up Maison's baby pool with jumping sprinklers. She loved it!

So though this mid-July day was super hot...we handled it!

Happy b-day S&M!

On Thursday, Shari and I turned 25. We had a family birthday party tonight a Maggiano's to celebrate.

Before dinner with Adam on Thurs.

Shari gave me a HK painting that she painted for me for my bar and running clothes...which was really funny because I gave her running shoes.

Happy 25th!

Happy 4th of July!

Yesterday we celebrated the 4th of July at our house. We normally go to my parents but given the 'not so hot' weather we wanted to have a swim party. My dad made all the BBQ and Adam and I made homemade pound cake, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream so that we could make our own strawberry shortcakes. Everything was delicious!

After lunch we were going to go swimming but the water was way too cold! I guess all the rain we've been having from the hurricane has lowered the pool temp. We had to settle for a Next Food Network Star marathon instead. Around 7:30 my family left, Adam and I put Maison to bed, and were in bed ourselves by 9:30!!! After several nights of Maison not sleeping, staying up until 2:00am making cake and ice cream we were dead tired. Boy how things have changed...we didn't even make it to the fireworks this year!

Happy 4th!
