September 1st – Know your limitations

Today Adam and I went on a kayaking/snorkeling tour that left from our hotel. There was a VERY large man and his VERY large young daughter (around 8 yrs old) that were already bitching about the gear when we walked up. The daughter was so large that she couldn't fit into a child's XL life jacket and her skinny mother insisted that she wear it rather than the adult small. We got about 10 min into our 45 min kayak and this guy started complaining that everyone was going to fast. Adam and I, another couple, and a man kayaking solo all had to wait for this dude and his daughter. We waited for like 10 min and I got SUPER SEASICK just sitting there taking every wave while this guy tried to figure out how to kayak. About 10 more min go by and this guy asked the tour guide to come adjust his seat. The tour guy told him they were plastic kayaks and thus not adjustable. I was so mad...I'm like freakin get off the tour that you are now ruining for everyone else. Finally the guide told him to go back and he would give him his money back. How ridiculous are these people??? Huh, know your limitations and don't go on a tour that is categorized for STRONG SWIMMERS and EXPERIENCED KAYAKERS...seriously??? Poor adam had to wear size 13 flippers when his feet are size 15 and he didn't complain at all....he knows when you go on a group tour you don't get customized gear. By the time we started snorkeling I was so sick I didn't even want to go. I bucked up and went anyway and didn't exactly have a great time. We saw a HUGE sea turtle that Adam swam down and got some good pics of (they are on the underwater camera that hasn’t been developed yet, of course). The coral reefs were gorgeous green, yellow, white, etc. We saw a white/orange sea snake and some bright yellow and black/white striped fish but nothing too exciting. On the return trip Adam and I had remembered the way home and I was so sick at this point I just wanted off this stupid tour so we kayaked back in 20 min. We completely left everyone. When we got back I went straight up to the room and slept for an hour until I could feel like I was back amongst the living. Adam stayed and apologized to the tour guide for leaving and of course he totally didn't care!

Tonight we went to Hilo Hattie’s to 'scope' out the moo-moo sitch for mom. Sadly to report it is NOT what it use to be. The entire front of the store is for wedding parties all coordinated patterns for men, women, and children and even an entire white section. The materials were all either polyester or rayon. Not exactly the Hilo Hattie's of old.

We had dinner at Roy's because we wanted to compare it to the one in Plano and it was really good but not the same ambiance as we have at home. This one was next door to Hilo Hattie's and it was just like tables inside of a shopping mall. Not exactly the fine dining it is at home but of course still has a fine dining price...
