August 31st – Zip This!

Today we went ziplining across several mountains in the Kanapali area. The 'zipliner', or rider, hangs from a harness that goes under each of your legs and then meets in front of you at a pulley that is connected to the zipline (or cable). We did 8 traverses today over varying distances. The longest was the last one that was 1100 ft long. You had to take a running/jumping start to get enough momentum to make it to the other side. All 8 traverses were several hundred feet off the ground. It doesn't look that high because we were only 20-50 ft above the tops of the trees but you can tell from some of the pics how high we were above sea level. We stopped in Lahaina for sunset and dinner a Kiemos. It was ok but nothing special. We are both tired from being in the sun all day and the physical strain of hiking and zipping all day.
